It's hard out there on the Internet for a feminist, or any woman, really. Something Australian author and columnist Clementine Ford knows all too well.

Following a spate of online abuse she received after a man was fired for levelling abusive, sexist Facebook comments at her, Ford has spent the past few days trading blows with trolls on Twitter.

Now another feminist, who just happens to share her name, has stumbled into the crossfire. As it turns out, Clementine Ford -- an American actress who starred as Molly Kroll in television show, The L Word -- is more than happy to help her newfound Aussie friend run the gauntlet of Internet abuse.

It all started when the actress tweeted her confusion after someone left a highly-offensive comment on her blog.

A few people responded to let her know what was happening with the other Ford, and she sprang to her fellow Clementine's defence.

Someone accused author-Clementine of swearing too much, but accidentally mentioned actress-Clementine instead.

Actress-Clementine clarified for her followers why she had suddenly started responding to trolls, and commended author-Clementine in the process.

Someone even pitched the awesome idea of a musical collaboration.

And when author-Clementine's detractors came her way, actress-Clementine did not hold back.

This impressive teamwork is evidence that feminists, like Vegemite and cheese, are just better together.
