While Ammon and Ruan Bundy await their fate for their role in the recently resolved Oregon standoff, they, alongside their father, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, were among a group of people indicted for a similar standoff at a Nevada ranch in 2014.

The Department of Justice announced the indictment on Wednesday, saying the group of five people were indicted on 16 felony charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, one count of conspiracy to impede or injure a federal officer, four counts of using and carrying a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, and two counts of assault on a federal officer.

Besides the three Bundys, Ryan W. Payne and Peter T. Santilli, Jr. were also indicted. Both men had roles in the Oregon standoff and were arrested in connection with that incident as well.

Bundy's conflict with the Bureau of Land Management began in the 1990s but came to a head in April 2014 when the BLM went to move hundreds of Bundy's cattle that had been grazing on public land. Bundy and his supporters, many of them armed, resisted and a standoff ensued.

During the tense confrontation, which stretched across several days before the BLM backed down out of concern for the safety of their employees, Ammon Bundy was tased after he allegedly kicked a police dog during one engagement with federal officials.

According to a release by the DOJ:

The indictment charges that Cliven Bundy was the leader, organizer, and chief beneficiary of the conspiracy, and possessed ultimate authority over the conspiratorial operations and received the economic benefits of the extortion. The remaining defendants are charged as leaders and organizers who conspired with Bundy to achieve his criminal objectives.

Also on Wednesday, Shawna Cox, who was arrested alongside Ammon and brother Ryan Bundy on Jan. 26 in relation to the Oregon standoff, filed a claim alleging federal damages "from the works of the devil in excess of $666,666,666,666.66." A judge promptly tossed the claim.
