How hot was Coachella? Very. And we’re not talking about the sun.

According to Tinder, usage of the app was on fire in the Indio and Palm Springs areas for Weekend One, up 300% compared to the weekend before.

Which isn’t surprising. On the first day alone, a festival-goer asked my colleague if she was a certain "Melissa" from Tinder. She said no, though would have said yes if he was better looking, she admitted.

Quotes from Coachella "The male population of Coachella is every guy I swiped left on Tinder" (plot twist I said this)— Meghan Rienks (@meghanrosette) April 13, 2015

I sure saw a lot of #tinder and #hinge matches this weekend at @coachella...— Jason Feffer (@ThatsFeffedUp) April 12, 2015

The Los Angeles-based app’s user base are mostly millennials, with ages ranging from 18 to 34. According to estimates, the app has been downloaded by more than 50 million users to date, with more than 1.6 billion swipes and 26 million matches made in 196 countries.

For this past weekend, the age breakdown looked like this for Coachella alone:

13-17 = 1%

18-24 = 31%

25-34 = 49%

35-44 = 16%

45-54 = 1%

55+ = 1%

Unknown = 1%

We’re mostly horrified by the 13-17-year old demographic (13-year-olds use Tinder?), but impressed by the 55-and-over crowd. AC/DC-loving dads of Coachella need love, too, apparently.
