This gut-wrenching trailer will force you to relive the heartbreak of your messed up, Cobain-obsessed youth in all the wrong ways.

The Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck, directed by Brett Morgen, will rip your heart out. Home video footage of the Nirvana frontman as a bubbly red-faced toddler is juxtaposed with shots of him in adulthood, in all the destructive glory that made him the rock and roll idol of a generation.

His daughter Frances Bean and ex-wife Courtney Love feature in the first family-approved film, which sees them act as co-producers, giving a delicate insight into Cobain's home life, alongside rare one-on-one interviews with those closest to the star.

Cobain died at the age of 27 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The tumultuous years that led up to this point, as a member of one of the most famous bands in the world, are shown in the trailer in vivid, breathtaking detail.

In the wise words of Wendy Cobain: "You better buckle up because you are not ready for this."
