CoComment rolled out an upgrade this morning that adds a much needed feature: the ability to track comments from users who aren't registered with CoComment. The new feature - called CoCoCrawler - grabs all the comments from Typepad, MovableType, Blogger, Flickr, digg, Wordpress (most templates), Kaywa, Blogsphere, Kulando, ExpressionEngine, tblog and lots of other platforms.

They've also added conversation tracking - you can track a comment thread even if you don't participate. What's more, you can now comment on pages that don't even have a comment box - like Chatsum and similar services, you can start a discussion around a webpage and have it logged in your CoComment account. And if you're new to CoComment, you no longer have to register right away - you can test the service without registration and CoComment will set a cookie in your browser. A new design has also gone live this morning.

Other new features include conversation filtering (find comments you left on blogs, forums or media sites), the ability to customize the layout of your profile page and support for five languages - English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. You can also forward comments by email and send out invitations. Finally, they've added support for a bunch of new platforms - most notably, YouTube. MySpace, MSNSpaces and Xanga are only partially supported.

As I've said before, I think CoComment is a much-needed service. Rivals include Commentful and Co.mments, but CoComment is certainly the most fully featured of the trio.
