Stephen Colbert Delivers Touching Tribute to Departed Mother

TV audiences know Stephen Colbert as a heralded TV comedian and satirist. But at the beginning of Wednesday night's The Colbert Report, he turned from humorous to reflective.

His mother, Lorna Colbert, passed away last week at the age of 92. Stephen took a full week off from the show after her death, but returned last night and delivered an incredibly moving eulogy before resuming with his usual routine.

During the three-minute tribute, he touched on her life, her children and her affinity for sculpture. Colbert also has to pause several times to regain his composure.

What did you think of the tribute? Watch below, then let us know in the comments.
