LONDON -- Coldplay might have picked up the highest honour of the night at the 2016 NME Awards, that of Godlike Genius, but it seems not everyone at the show was their biggest fan.

Oli Sykes, frontman of Bring Me The Horizon, took a detour from the stage during the post hardcore band's performance of "Happy Song" to jump on top of Coldplay's table, pushing Chris Martin aside and sending bottles and glasses scattering.

Guitarist Jonny Buckland moved out of the way as Sykes screamed his way through the track, making the legs of the table buckle before jumping back off.

Sykes insisted after the incident that "it was in no way a protest against Coldplay."

It's not the first time a table has been trashed at the NME Awards. In 2006, Ryan Jarman from The Cribs was hospitalised after performing a backflip onto The Kaiser Chiefs table.
