Comcast had added another web-based service to its suite of offerings. Car review site Vehix has just been acquired by the cable company's advertising sales division, Comcast Spotlight. The move isn't too much of a stretch as Comcast already owned a minority stake in Vehix. The remaining interest was purchased from a shareholder group, led by Ken Garff Automative Group, for an undisclosed amount.
Launched in 1996, Vehix began as an online portal for enabling consumers to research automobiles. The site has since grown to distribute automotive content across multiple platforms, including Comcast's on-demand service. Considering Comcast's growing interest in moving into the online sector for the purpose of combining its cable and web offerings, those web-based services that can easily overlap with Comcast's television services (specifically its own on-demand tools), it's clear that Comcast is aggregating as many portals as possible to bulk out its suite of services.
