At the end of last week, clips from Comedy Central's shows, including the Daily Show, South Park and the Colbert Report, were pulled from YouTube due to copyright violations. I suggested that this was perhaps a negotiating tactic by owners Viacom: YouTube would realize how valuable those clips were, and offer Viacom a good revenue-sharing deal. The two companies are now in talks, reports Adweek, and the clips have been reposted. The pair have yet to sign a licensing agreement along the lines of CBS-YouTube, the NBC deal and the various agreements with record companies, but an amicable agreement seems inevitable.
