Online comparison tools typically come into play when you've got some shopping to do, but there are other reasons why you may feel the need to compare items across multiple points. Some of you would even enjoy comparison just for the sake of it, so here's a new tool for you.

Communipare is launching the US version of its comparison widget tool, giving you a compounded, portable version of a comparison chart. You can create your own, or use one that's been created by another person.

What Communipare does is compress all the points of comparison for you, resulting in a chart that's effective and available in widget format. In creating a chart, you pick the topic, the points of comparison, and then add in the items, which can be grabbed from across the web. You then go along each item and rate it, as well as mark it accordingly across all your indicated points. This could be useful if you have a media blog and would like to offer a comparison chart for horror flicks or best remakes. It could, of course, also be used in a price comparison publication for a number of purposes.

The downfall to Communipare, aside from the manual work a user has to put in for the creation of a chart, is the lack of interactivity for viewers of charts. This means that finding practical purposes for Communipare's charts, other than a personal tool for creating them for oneself, is a difficult task.
