SINGAPORE -- Singapore turns 50 this weekend, and the nation is in full-blown celebration. It seems almost every company is trying to partake in the feel-good factor, although not every one has executed this gracefully.

At the lowest denominator, companies here are slapping the government-created SG50 logo on their products (this blog chronicles plenty of misfires). Some, like the "ugly" fishcake have also drawn public ire.

Thankfully, some companies have launched truly beautiful and creative tributes. Now this is starting to feel like a real party.

Uncommon Practice

This animated short from the graphic design firm is packed with recognisable Singapore places and icons with little gems for locals to spot (it's not just the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, after all). The animators said they picked the song "Singapore Town" because it's a tune popularly taught in primary schools.

Uber

Leading up to the weekend, Uber's cars wore the Singapore flag on them. A cute and effective touch.

Twitter

Twitter launched special emoji for the occasion. Until the weekend, tweeting #Singapore will display a Singapore flag, and #SG50 will carry the logo we can't get enough of.

The Sound of Singapore

Feel like you're right in Singapore by listening to the sounds of the city. The site was produced by Lensy, a stock photo provider, with local radio station Gold 90.5. The sounds collected from visitor submissions will also be released as a longer, compiled track, the site says.

Rolls-Royce

If you have the money and you love Singapore, you can order a custom 'SG50 Ghost Series II' from the luxury car maker. Rolls-Royce says its the first time it's produced a commemorative car for a country's anniversary.

John Walker, by Diageo

Only 25 bottles of this ultra fancy whisky bottle exist. The John Walker is the premium line of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label brand of whisky, and these 25 bottles have been hand-engraved by Philip Lawson Johnston. According to Johnston's website, he's one of only three royal warrant holders in the world to hand-engrave glass for The Queen.
