Everyone loves a good underdog success story -- but even if that's not in the cards, it feels good to make someone's dreams less hopeless.
Lincoln D. Chafee, ex-Republican and former senator and governor of Rhode Island, is currently at a whopping 0% in Democratic primary polls for the 2016 presidential election. Conan O'Brien wants to fix that -- and deliver Chafee a full 1% of the vote.

"I'm not saying we should get him elected," O'Brien clarified. "I'm personally not going to vote for him. But I think we should get him on the board so he's not humiliated. It seems like the nice thing to do."
So the host decided to educate the public about the Democratic hopeful. Chafee is a farrier -- which, in case you're totally ignorant, is someone who specializes in putting shoes on horses.

O'Brien figures that Chafee's demographics combined -- "black stoner lesbian measuring cup CEOs," "confused elderly Republicans" and horses -- probably add up to 1%. But just in case, he tapped Ted Leo and Aimee Mann to perform an original campaign song. "He looks like Chris Matthews on a juice cleanse" should be enough to persuade a few voters.
Thankfully, Chafee has responded to the bit and is down for a little cross-promotion.
Linc: "He's a good sport and I would definitely come on his show to help his ratings." https://t.co/hYgMYd00xr— Ruby Cramer (@rubycramer) August 20, 2015
