Team Coco, rejoice. Comedian Conan O’Brien will host the MTV Music Awards on April 13 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, he revealed on his TBS late-night talk show Conan.

"After eight years of intense negations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV’s second most prestigious awards show," he said, poking fun at how the ceremony takes a backseat to the MTV Video Music Awards, which is much more hyped.

Conan jumped on Twitter to talk about his new gig:

I'm excited to host the MTV #MovieAwards on 4/13! I was going to say no, but @Harry_Styles begged me. Please don't ask him to confirm this.

Hosts in recent years include Rebel Wilson (2013), Russell Brand (2012), Jason Sudeikis (2011), Aziz Ansari (2010) and Andy Samberg (2009). Dennis Miller, Eddie Murphy and Will Smith hosted the first MTV Movie Awards in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

Conan is no stranger to hosting award shows; he hosted the Emmys in 2002 and 2006.

MTV will reveal nominations March 6 at 7 a.m. ET on the show's website. Seen as the younger, rebellious sibling to the Academy Awards, this shindig honors movies and actors with edgier awards such as Best Kiss, Best Fight, Best Scared As Sh*t Performance, Best Hero, Best Villain, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance and more.

Last year for the first time ever, MTV let movie fans vote using Instagram photos and hashtags. MTV launched the Best Hero category in 2012, but the live social voting only accounted for votes coming from Twitter. There's no word on whether this option will return.
