Tonight Show Twitter TRACKER: Conan Does the Twitter [Video]

Perhaps playing to Jay Leno’s supposedly older, less tech savvy crowd in the 11:30 timeslot, last night Conan playfully asked his audience if “anyone here Twitter[s]?” and proceeded to mumble about how “it’s all the rage … the youngsters and their rock n’ roll music!” Then, he introduced the Twitter TRACKER, with the ensuing way over-the-top sketch poking fun at the banality of some celebrity Twitter user’s updates. The sketch was certainly the high point for me in the first two nights of Conan’s hosting gig, and one could imagine it being a regular segment on the show, using fake tweets (none of the celebs actually appear to have tweeted the details mentioned in last night’s Twitter Tracker) to play off of current celebrity events.

As for whether or not Conan will actually use Twitter like his Late Night replacement does, so far, it appears not. The NBCConan account so far seems to be just broadcasting updates about the show, likely from members of The Tonight Show staff and not Conan himself.
