I think it's fair to say I'm not overly impressed with Congoo Beta. Quite frankly, I don't get it. Here's the blurb:
Congoo is a new type of search engine that uses unique, patented technology to improve upon today’s typical search experience. Congoo’s search results focus on providing access to previously un-indexed premium content. In addition to making these content sources known, Congoo is working hand in hand with premium content publishers to provide free introductory access unavailable from any other search engine.
Congoo bills itself as a premium content search engine, but to me it seems more like a kludge of user-generated search rolls (ala Rollyo) and an expert advice platform like Squidoo or About.com. Once you've registered, you conduct a search of a familiar topic and pick your favorite search results - you can then share these results with the world (my hasty attempt at a Web 2.0 linkroll is here).
Now what?
Uh...that seems to be about it. Apparently I'm supposed to download the "Net Pass plug-in" to access premium content in my searches, but there appears to be no way to do that right now. Perhaps this is because Congoo is in Beta. Perhaps all the best features have been saved for later. Well, perhaps.
