Teen skips 166-mile train trip across England, flies to Germany and back for cheaper

You'd think that in most cases, the shortest and quickest route home would also be the cheapest.

Not always. Money saving machine and all-round lovable Brit Jordon Cox documents his journey from Sheffield back to Essex in the video above -- and it turns out his most cost-effective route is actually via a 1000-mile+ adventure/detour.

Instead of just getting a boring train back home (£51.79), Cox flies to Berlin from East Midlands Airport, squeezes in a day of sight-seeing and then hops on a plane bound for London Stansted (£44.07 in total).
