Finally, a protein bar that feeds your inner frog.

Crobar, created by marathon runner Christine Spliid, is a protein bar made out of cricket powder. In case that didn't sink in, we're talking about insects.

The new, health-conscious brand of energy bars hopes to start production this April, and has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise £10,000 (nearly $15,000).

Crobar isn't using crickets because they taste good. On the contrary, the company has gone out of its way to ensure you don't taste them at all. Indeed, the crickets are fed vegetables and fruit to help them taste "nuttier" (before they're ground into a fine powder), and are mixed in with actual nuts and cocoa, according to Crobar's Kickstarter page.

The company uses crickets because they're a great source of healthy protein, which is why so many animals -- even humans -- have eaten them for so long.

Of course, there are other energy bars on the market, such as Exo, which use cricket power as an ingredient, but Crobar will be the first to be sold in the UK.

The company's Kickstarter campaign has raised over £2,900 ($4,300) at the time of this writing, with 25 days remaining.
