Fujitsu Laboratories has a new app that uses a smartphone camera to measure the user's skin condition. It tracks acne, blemishes, skin tone and pore size, and can be used to monitor the health of facial skin and see how it reacts to certain skin care products.
The user photographs areas of their skin while holding a color frame wheel, which allows for different lighting conditions. Close-up shots of the cheekbone, beside the nose and cheek and around the mouth are analyzed and given a score based on skin health. This allows the user to track changes over time and assess which products are helping or making their skin look worse.
