If you’re one of the millions of people watching Super Bowl 50 this weekend, you may notice something peculiar on the field.

Led by quarterback Cam Newton, the Carolina Panthers have thrashed opponents all season, and in the process, joined in on the fun of the Internet’s latest dance craze - the dab.

Dabbing was originally a form of marijuana use, but much like the term “dope,” it has gone on to form a second meaning all its own. The dance originated in Atlanta, where a handful of rappers, most notably rap group Migos and frequent collaborators Jose Guapo, Skippa Da Flippa, and PeeWee Longway, popularized dabbing in their music videos and mixtapes.

Naturally, the dance made its way to social media, where people all over the country shared Vines and videos of themselves hitting the dab.

But no one has popularized this move more in football than Cam Newton, the ambassador of the dab.

Dabbing has reached new heights as people of every race, color, and creed started doing the dance across America.

So keep on eye out this Super Bowl weekend, and if you feel so inclined, dab on 'em.
