LONDON -- So Daniel Radcliffe's new film, Swiss Army Man, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday -- and from the sounds of it, his role is a bit different from the parts he's played previously.
This time, instead of a budding wizard, a famous poet or a haunted lawyer, Daniel Radcliffe plays...a farting corpse.
I just saw Paul Dano riding Daniel Radcliffe through the ocean like a jet ski. DanRad uses his farts as propulsion. #Sundance #SwissArmyMan— Lauren Bradshaw (@flickchickdc) January 23, 2016
The film's initial showings sparked a mixture of reactions that practically covered the spectrum of conceivable human emotion.
Many were genuinely baffled by what they'd just seen.
#swissarmyman is an acid trip with Harry Potter as the heroic farting corpse. There is no movie like this, ever.— Evan Sanders (@evanbsanders) January 24, 2016
Some people didn't like it.
Nobody better compare the dreadful #SwissArmyMan to weekend at Bernies. That's a huge insult to weekend at Bernies. #sundance16— Mara Reinstein (@MaraReinstein) January 23, 2016
@sundancefest #Sundance2016 #SwissArmyMan Awful stupid fart joke masquerading as a film.Many walked out.Stupid.Boring!— John (@bonafidecritic) January 23, 2016
#SwissArmyMan: Castaway Paul Dano and lively corpse Daniel Radcliffe. Inventive--but annoying, puerile, frustrating. Just no. #Sundance2016— Kate Aurthur (@KateAurthur) January 23, 2016
Others hated it so much they walked out.
Never a good sign when the chairmen of 2 studios are among the glum walkouts of a supposedly hot film half way thru #SwissArmyMan #Sundance— Brooks Barnes (@brooksbarnesNYT) January 22, 2016
Some didn't know where they stood.
Overall, this film will test your patience. There were people walking out of it. Yet, there are good laughs here and there. #SwissArmyMan— FanAnon (@FanAnonymous38) January 23, 2016
So, #SwissArmyMan man is...something. Not for me, but credit for trying something out there. #Sundance— Benjamin Wood (@BjaminWood) January 23, 2016
And some completely loved it.
Swiss Army Man: completely nuts, hilarious, unique & bizarre. Dano & Radcliffe were great & clearly had so much fun w this madness #Sundance— Amirose Eisenbach (@Amirosie) January 23, 2016
#SwissArmyMan was one of the most strange Sundance films I've seen, but in the very best way possible.— Zak Phillippy (@ZPhillippy) January 25, 2016
If you walked out of @swissarmyfilm you are crazy. Arguably the most original movie in years! #Sundance #SwissArmyMan— DT (@DevinTurner70) January 24, 2016
SWISS ARMY MAN was absurd, demented and genius. Directors are master of tone. "Shame keeps us from love." #swissarmyman #sundance2016— Terrell Garrett (@TerrellTGarrett) January 23, 2016
One person had such a strong reaction they ended up crying -- (although whether this was from sadness, disgust or laughter, it's difficult to tell.
You wouldn't think a farting corpse could bring you to tears, but here we are. #SwissArmyMan— still at sundance (@MELdoinWELL) January 23, 2016
The film has also prompted some entertaining reviews.

Either way, the mixed reactions -- and the thought of seeing Radcliffe play a farting corpse -- have certainly drummed up a lot of intrigue.
#DanielRadcliffe - no matter what anyone says, you had me at "fart drama." Stay strong buddy. #Sundance #SwissArmyMan— Steve Veisel (@SteveVeisel) January 25, 2016
So this Daniel Radcliffe flatulent corpse movie sounds like quite a thing. #SwissArmyMan— Adrian Garro (@adriangarro) January 24, 2016
Wait... There's a movie out about a dead body that farts itself back to life?! Why am I not watching this?! #fartmovie #swissarmyman— Chris Del Vecchio Jr (@DirtyDelYo) January 24, 2016
