Just over a year past the release of Dark Souls II Bandai Namco has announced a follow-up to the notoriously difficult game at this year's E3 conference.

The studio was careful to keep details to a minimum in the short trailer for Dark Souls III, but what we can see is in keeping with the dark, gritty tone of the series. Once great cities have crumbled into the dirt, humanity has been twisted into new and horrifying forms and an evil magic holds sway over the land.

Enigmatic shots of a crown and a ruined citadel hint at the ultimate plot for the game, but it's the stone giant wielding a mile-high sword at the end of the trailer that's got our attention.
