Former Major League Baseball player and MLB Network analyst Darryl Hamilton was found dead by police at his Houston-area home on Sunday afternoon in what authorities say appears to be a murder-suicide. He was 50.
Police responded to a 911 call from Hamilton's home to find his body located near its main entry with several gunshot wounds. The body of 44-year-old Monica Jordan was also found in another part of the house with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound. Hamilton and Jordan had a 14-month-old son together; he was found unhurt at the house.

Hamilton hit .291 and committed just 14 errors in a 13-year major-league career as an outfielder with the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies and New York Mets. He was a member of the Mets team that reached the World Series in 2000, and later joined the MLB Network as an analyst in 2013.
Hamilton was a popular analyst, earning a reputation for hard work and professionalism as a player. Former teammates and media colleagues took news of his death hard, posting their reactions on Twitter.
