Longtime jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck died of heart failure Wednesday -- one day before his 92nd birthday.

Brubeck was en route to a cardiology appointment when he died, the AP reports.

In 2003, the Library of Congress anointed Brubeck a "Living Legend" for his contributions to jazz music, which include such hits as "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk."

"Throughout his six decade-long career, his unique time signatures and distinct rhythms were highlights of his innovative style," Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy, said in a statement. "As one of the prime architects of the sophisticated West Coast jazz sound, Brubeck showed that jazz could be artistically challenging yet accessible to large audiences."

People are remembering Brubeck by watching and leaving comments on YouTube videos related to him and his music. And a slew of musicians have covered his music in interesting ways -- We've gathered some of the best covers in the gallery below to help you remember his music, too.
