LONDON -- We've got some bad news for you, Beckham fans: despite recent rumours, it doesn't look as though everyone's favourite tattooed footballer will be stepping in to fill 007's boots any time soon.

Beckham addressed the Bond gossip directly on ITV's "Good Morning Britain" on Tuesday during a discussion with Susanna Reid about his recent foray into the acting world.

After talking about his appearance in a short film alongside Harvey Keitel and his upcoming role in Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, Reid brought up the talk from people who have been suggesting Beckham should put himself forward to be the next Bond.

"I know, I heard that the other day," grinned Beckham. "And I was at the US Open and Sean Connery was two seats in front of me. I'm such a big fan of his; I was gonna kind of knock him on the shoulder and just say, you know 'apparently I'm up for the next role' -- but no. I've definitely not been contacted, I'm definitely not up for doing something like that, but it's nice to be linked I suppose."

When asked if he could do an impression of Connery seconds later, Beckham didn't seem keen -- but he did have a stab a Roger Moore's trademark raised eyebrow.

At the every least, he's definitely got the whole "effortlessly cool" thing down to a fine art.
