LONDON -- A British street artist has paid tribute to Bowie with a painting of the legendary singer in one of his most famous outfits.
London-based artist Pegasus painted Bowie in the iconic 1970s outfit from his Aladdin Sane tour on a wall in Turnpike Lane on Saturday.
Pegasus told Mashable that he chose to paint the star in that particular outfit because it represents his favourite Bowie era.
"I always knew that I would one day paint Bowie in that outfit," he said.
"After hearing news of his death I knew straight away I had to pay tribute to the greatest British visionary. He was a genius in the music industry and paved the way for many artists.
"He made it acceptable for people to express themselves without shame and I believe helped many people feel comfortable in their own skin.
"He will be greatly missed."
