Anonymous Bowie fan honors the late singer with street sign change

My street has a first name, and it's D-A-V-I-D.

The legacy of David Bowie rolls on as a street sign in Austin, Texas has been anonymously changed to honor the late rock god. The transformation of the original "Bowie Street" is not an official revision by the city, though the Austin Transportation Department says it will keep the sign up for a few more days.

“We appreciate Austin’s reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World and recognize David Bowie for all he did for the music industry and more,” Austin's

"To this end, we will leave the sign up until Tuesday, January 19th, so our community can enjoy the makeshift memorial a few days longer. At that time we will have to replace it with the real street name sign.”

KVUE notes people throughout the city have scampered over to the sign to snap pictures of the sweet memorial.
