As part of the Victoria and Albert Museum's "David Bowie Is" exhibit, Mark Blamire (aka "Blam") created a typographic print that simply reads the famous last name over and over.
Blam asked 101 designers to create their own typeface or pick their favorite for the Changing Faces of Bowie, creating a unique piece inspired by the singer's career.
Designer Harry Heptonstall’s maze-like submission was inspired by Bowie’s role in the 1986 film Labyrinth, David Jones’ "Bowie" is a modern interpretation of a graphic he painted on his school satchel, while Gareth Wild swapped the letters around in his contribution, inspired by the time Bowie asked his band to swap instruments.
The print includes contributions from Build, The Chase, Spin, Nom de Strip, Studio NMO, Stockholm Design Lab, Monocle, Paul Belford, Corey Holms, Pentagram, Crispin Finn, Anthony Burrill, Wallpaper, Martyn Atkins, The Designers Republic, Trevor Jackson and Jonathan Barnbrook.
