David Schwimmer, best known for playing Ross Gellar on NBC's Friends, has just joined the cast of an upcoming U.K. program called Morning Has Broken.

The show, which will air next year, focuses on a struggling morning talk show hosted by "Queen of Daytime" Gail Sinclair (Julia Davis). When ratings begin to flounder, Sinclair and her team bring in Schwimmer's character, an American producer, to help keep things afloat.

Since wrapping Friendsin 2004, Schwimmer has worked as a director and appeared periodically in film and television, most notably alongside fellow Friends Matt LeBlanc on Episodes and Lisa Kudrow on Web Therapy.

Morning Has Broken will debut on Channel 4, which brought us shows like Black Mirror, Peep Show, and Spaced. Television actress Julia Davis (perhaps best known in the U.S. for a cameo as the grumpy caterer in Love Actually) will play Gail Sinclair, and said that with Morning Has Broken she looks forward to "experimenting with friends whose work I love." Pun intended?
