Between Kanye West's multiple Twitter rants, fashion shows doubling as album release parties and supposed beef with Taylor Swift (and that's all just last week), you may have missed one of the most epic music mashups ever: Death Cab for Cutie meets Kanye.

Dubbed Death Cab for Yeezy, the mashup appeared on Reddit just one day before Kanye's own album release party on Thursday and immediately won approval from pretty much anyone who managed to listen to it.

That approval even extended to Death Cab for Cutie itself, with the band tweeting a link to the mashup soon after its release.

The pairing of various songs from the mid-2000s catalog of songs from both music acts is executed so perfectly that it could easily be released as commercial product and likely garner a few new sales.

However, the enjoyment surrounding the unlikely artist mix was short-lived as the six-song mashup was soon scrubbed from SoundCloud, where it was first uploaded by the unnamed creator of the mashup, and expunged from YouTube, where another fan had posted the songs.

It might seem unrealistic to some that a fan-created mashup might possibly eclipse Kanye's The Life of Pablo release. But the mashup is so popular that it's almost understandable that someone from one of the camps (presumably, Kanye's) is making every effort to have the tracks removed from the Internet.

But the Internet won't be denied. It only took a few minutes to find another upload of the song collection on SoundCloud. But if you're interested you'd better listen quickly, because whoever is in charge policing Death Cab for Yeezy is working pretty hard to make sure the songs are erased from history.

Amid his flurry of tweets this week, Kanye hasn't addressed the mashup, but the artist will appear on Saturday Night Live on Saturday, so it may be worth watching to see if the mashup comes up in some form or another.
