Filming a pilot no longer requires a full-size production crew and major network -- now, all you need is a camera and some dedicated friends.
That's exactly what Chicago-based comedian Joe Avella did with Delivery Dudes. The 22-minute pilot follows the lives of pizzeria employees and their delivery troubles, including a robbery at gunpoint, a pizza thief and a short-lived hip hop career.

"I needed something that was easy to shoot and didn’t cost money," Avella told Mashable. "I had available to me: My car, my friends and their apartments. Pizza delivery kind of popped up. It was perfect because the cast could be different for each one and we could film it in their doorways."
