DeLorean Hovercraft Debuts During Giants Game

The flying cars from Back to the Future seem just right outside our reach.

Not content to just wait around for three years, Future-fan Matthew Riese decided to approximate a flying DeLorean best he could: By creating his own Back to the Future time machine hovercraft. Riese's Delorean hovercraft made its TV debut this past Friday during a game at the San Francisco Giants' AT&T Park.

Of course, hovercrafts don't just grow on trees, so Riese had to pound the pavement to get his dream off the ground. That meant starting a page on crowd-funding website Kickstarter to raise the $5,644 needed to make this vehicle real. Which is a relative bargain, really -- the DeLorean from the movie recently sold at auction for almost $500,000.

Hey, it may not actually fly, but this car may be as close to a soaring DeLorean as we'll see this decade.
