LAS VEGAS -- No truer words were sung this weekend than those by Demi Lovato when she covered Third Eye Blind's '90s hit "Jumper": "Everyone's got to face down the demons."

Lovato, who has battled bipolar depression and an eating disorder, performed the 1998 classic with Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

Jenkins wrote the song nearly two decades ago about a gay friend who committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. "Jumper" also is about recovering from past demons.

Lovato's move to bring out Jenkins made perfect sense since she's a mental-illness survivor as well as a passionate advocate of the LGBT community and anti-bullying efforts.

Lovato conquered her depression, and her music is showcasing her confident vibe. This week she released "Confident" -- the title track from her new album that drops Oct. 16.

BONUS: Amen! Demi Lovato's cover of Hozier's 'Take Me To Church' is heavenly
