UPDATED 5:30 p.m. PT with details from a police press conference.

One person is deceased and seven more are wounded following a shooting and stabbing incident at a motorcycle expo in Denver Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.

Four people involved in the melee were shot, one was stabbed and three sustained lesser injuries, possibly due to fistfights, Denver Police Chief Robert White said during a press conference Saturday evening. The violence broke out around 12:48 p.m. local time as two motorcycle clubs brawled at the Colorado Motorcycle Expo at the National Western Complex.

There have been no arrests, but police have homed in on one person of interest, White said. Several witnesses are being interviewed.

"We strongly suspect there was more than one shooter," White said.

Witnesses told local reporters they saw a large group of people fighting and then some running down a set of stairs. Officially-released details about the incident are sparse.

The motorcycle expo will be canceled on Sunday, White said, even though it continued for several hours after the shooting and organizers had originally stated the event would open as planned the following day.

Bob Cook, who was working at his leather goods booth at the expo, told the Denver Post he heard two shots fired and saw people diving under tables. Darren Moffitt, who was eating at the time of the shooting, told 9 News he heard people yelling as he hid under a table. He had stepped in a puddle of blood, he said.

The injured were transported to Denver Health Medical Center, three in critical condition, three in serious condition and one deceased, the hospital tweeted. The hospital's emergency room was temporarily on lock down after the victims were transferred there.

The motorcycle expo resumed shortly after the shooting, with several booth owners observing that few attendees seemed fazed by the violence. A Denver Post reporter at the expo shared photos on Twitter of passersby ignoring dried blood on a stairwell and noted a wet t-shirt contest was set to continue as planned.
