UPDATE: Tuesday, June 23, 2:39 a.m.: ESPN reported Sean "Diddy" Combs has been released from Los Angeles County jail on $50,000 bail at 10:02 p.m. on Monday night. He was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery. He will face court on July 13.

It apparently, in fact, is Bad Boy for life.

Diddy -- perhaps better known as Puff Daddy, perhaps better known as Sean Combs -- was arrested on Monday afternoon for allegedly attacking a UCLA football coach with a kettlebell.

His son, Justin Combs, is a reserve defensive back for the Bruins with four career tackles in two seasons.

TMZ first reported the news, which was confirmed when UCLA posted the following statement to its official athletics site.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. today, Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) was arrested at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which was a kettlebell. No one was seriously injured and UCPD is investigating. Combs is expected to be transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Inmate Reception Center later this evening.

Diddy reportedly became enraged when a coach yelled at his son. It would appear he hasn't read the literature on helicopter parenting and its effect on millennials.

According to TMZ, the coach in question was assistant coach Sal Alosi, who is best remembered for a 2010 incident when, as a coach with the New York Jets, he tripped an opposing player from the sideline during live play.

“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," UCLA head coach Jim Mora said. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

Diddy was previously charged with second-degree assault in 1999, in connection with an attack on an executive at Interscope Records. Prosecutors said Diddy and two others beat the man, Steve Stoute, with a champagne bottle.

Meanwhile, Cordell Broadus -- the son of Snoop Dogg and a high school football star -- has committed to join the UCLA team next season. Perhaps old Snoop has something that could help mellow his fellow Bruin daddy Diddy.

Representatives for Diddy released a statement on Tuesday:

The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate. What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.
