High school dances are awkward. And deciding what to wear to them can be even worse.

So imagine yourself as a 13-year-old girl, standing in front of a mirror and trying on dress after dress unsure of what to wear. Your mom recommends something that isn't usually your style, but you decide to humor her anyway. Just as you're slip it on and beginning to smile, a sales assistant enters to tell you you need to wear Spanx.

Because that's exactly what you want to hear.

This is what happened to Megan Naramore Harris' daughter, Lexi, at a Dillard's in Kansas. Luckily for Lexi, Megan Naramore Harris is not one to sit back and allow this kind of body-shaming. Not only did the mom confront the sales assistant about the statement, she also took to Facebook that night to break down how problematic the woman's statement was in a post that's now gone viral.

The message resonated with many; the post has been liked more than 300,000 times and has ben shared more than 50,000 times.

"I hope this is shared and gets back to you so that you should not say something like that to a girl ever again," Harris wrote. "You never know what negative or positive thoughts they are thinking about themselves."

Well Harris, it looks like it just might get back to her. Thanks for defending your daughter and other adolescent girls.
