Other solutions like the Boxee Box and the Popbox are bits of hardware that have a footprint in your home theater, which can be a barrier when space is at a premium or where consumer preference is for less "tech" in the living room.

For now, the DivX online TV media center solution will be available on LG-branded devices, but that's just the beginning. The company is working to take its solution to other partners and platforms, and depending on how fast that initiative moves, it could become a key contender in the race to bring Internet content to consumer TVs.
