Dinner never has to be a guessing game.
Kitchen decor is all about style and function. You never want things to get in the way while you're cooking gourmet cuisine, but you also don't want to sacrifice your home's gorgeous look.
Create something beautifully minimal, while also being totally handy. Plus you can avoid the daily, dreaded question: "Hey, what's for dinner?"
Materials:
A picture frame
Black chalkboard paint**
A paintbrush or roller
** For this project, we used regular chalkboard paint that you need a brush or roller to apply because the environment we were working in was not well ventilated and the weather prevented us to go outside to work.
However, if you are able to work outside or in a ventilated space, feel free to use chalkboard spray-paint. It will still give you great results.
Step One:
Remove the glass from your frame and set aside your backing and outer frame -- you'll need it later. Then, set down some newspaper or a cardboard box (if you're spray painting) to work.
Step Two:
Start painting. Apply at least two coats, allowing time to dry between applications. If you find there is a little too much texture in your paint, you can try to smooth it out with a softer roller or sponge brush.
Step Three:
Allow 24 hours for your paint to dry and place the glass back in the frame. Then you can hang your new menu wherever you like.
