Wisconsin-based aircraft company Sonex is selling a single-seat jet, but you'll need a toolkit to assemble it.
The fast facts: It travels at over 200 miles per hour with a cruising speed of 180, and is capable of carrying up to 900 pounds. Its wingspan is just about 18 feet -- tiny when compared to a regular commercial jet, which has an average wingspan of nearly 200 feet.
Many of the critical parts come pre-assembled, but the engine, fuel system and landing gear are not installed. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations state that commercially sold aircrafts must be at least 51% homebuilt.
The SubSonex JSX-2 jet should be available by the middle of 2014. The price tag is not for the faint at heart -- while a final cost hasn't been revealed, the first 10 people to place a deposit get an introductory price of $125,000.
This jet is likely to operate under the FAA’s experimental category, which has strict restrictions on location parameters and times the jet can fly.
