'Doctor Who' Explained in 25 GIFs

Die-hard Whovians have been looking forward to the season 7 part 2 premiere of Doctor Who since December.

But let's assume that you've never heard of a time-traveling alien in a blue telephone booth and have no idea what TARDIS stands for. You don't fear the Daleks, and couldn't care less about Cybermen. That's OK! The Doctor has been around since 1963, and he's always looking for new companions.

Before you join the Whovian fleet, you must first understand the Time Lord who started it all.

"Classic" Doctor Who started in the '60s and ended in 1989.

Over the past 50 years, there have been 11 Doctors. While the actors change, the character doesn't.
