How's this for a lucky escape? Angus the dog was saved by firefighters in a smoke filled apartment in the Melbourne suburb of Vermont on Sunday evening.

Angus was alone at home, when a blaze was started from a TV. The firefighters extinguished the fire -- but Angus was nowhere to be found.

His owners asked the firefighters to check upstairs, where Angus was found hiding under a bed.

The shaken pup promptly received oxygen from the firefighters, where according to the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade on their Facebook page he was "lucky to be alive."

Shortly after, Angus was reunited with his very relieved owner. Turns out, he needed a good wash but was otherwise fine.
