A condo board in Destin, Florida sent residents a letter requesting that all pet owners submit their dog's DNA, in an effort to hold those who don't pick up their dog's poop accountable.

The policy apparently comes on the heels of a radical increase in the amount of dog poop left on the property, some of which was found in elevators. According to the Panama City News Herald, the condo's pet owners see the request as a bizarre invasion of privacy.

The letter sent to residents stated that pet owners would be required to pay for both the DNA test and a "pet registration fee." The board says that the process is voluntary, but residents are concerned.

"Some are afraid that if they don’t go along with it they will be evicted or asked to leave,” one anonymous resident told the News Herald.

Whether or not you agree with the condo board's CSI solution probably depends on whether or not you've ever had a neighbor who doesn't clean up their dog's poop.
