LONDON -- They call him the Turdinator.

Andrew Hawes from Leiston in Suffolk has had it up to here with other people's dog mess, and he's decided to do something about it. He's started hiding in bushes, dressed in full camouflage, waiting to pounce on careless owners that abandon their pooch's poop.

Hawes explained his strategy to the BBC. "If they don't clear up after their dog I'll pop out of the hedge and say 'excuse me, could you please clean up after your dog. You're being filmed, if you clean up the film will be deleted straight away - if not you'll be posted on my Facebook page for people to identify and then you'll be reported to the police'".

"It's trying to re-educate people and bring a bit more pride back into Leiston," Hawes says.

As well as hiding in bushes in full camouflage, he's been using water-based spray paint to scrawl "Clean it up" messages on the paths, and plans to use 10 days of holiday time from work to ramp up his endeavours.

"If I have to go to court to explain my actions, if it's saving a child from getting dog mess in their eye and going blind through disease, so be it," he said.

His plans have struck a chord with locals fed up with stepping in doggy doo doo.

The Leiston Dog Mess Name & Shame Facebook group has already documented some astonishing infractions in the badlands of Suffolk.
