The Dojo Toolkit, a JavaScript library for developing AJAX-based web sites and applications, is receiving a variety of performance enhancements. Several organizations including Mozilla, SitePen and TurboAjax contributed to the project, called “The Dojo Grid,” which is designed to optimize spreadsheet-like applications that have hundreds of thousands of rows of data.

The improvements allow widgets and visualization applications to quickly access large amounts of data, and supports additional features such as virtual scrolling, row and column locking, and cell formatting.
