The one and only Dolly Parton turned 70 years old on Tuesday.
Spanning five decades, her entertainment career has crossed genres and industries. She got her start in music, but she didn't stop there. After successfully making it in film, she opened her Dollywood theme park and built an empire.
In honor of the indelible mark she's made in her seven decades on Earth, we're counting down her top hits over the years.
10. Rockin Years
9. Joshua
8. Here You Come Again
7. Light of a Clear Blue Morning
6. Why'd You Come In Here
We're happier than a newborn calf gettin' his first milk just watching this video.
5. Islands in the Stream
Never will there ever be a better karaoke duet song.
4. Coat of Many Colors
Be prepared to cry listening to this song. Dolly drew from her own life experience when writing this tear-jerker hit.
3. I Will Always Love You
Whitney's version was fabulous, but Dolly is the original. Parton originally wrote the song as a goodbye to Porter Wagoner. (She got her start on his show, but eventually set out on her own.)
2. 9 to 5
When Parton was approached to be in 9 to 5, she didn't just say agree and take what she was offered. She countered like a badass: She'd do it if she could write the soundtrack. And with that, we have this anthem of the working world.
1. Jolene
There have been many versions of Dolly's famous song about the other woman, but no one sings it like her.
