After last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris, Donald Trump told Yahoo News that he would not rule out a special ID for Muslims in the United States. Civil rights groups have since condemned Trump’s proposal, but one “Muslim Marine,” Tayyib Rashab, said it best:
Hey @realDonaldTrump, I'm an American Muslim and I already carry a special ID badge. Where's yours? #SemperFi#USMC pic.twitter.com/QSf2O9PTi2— ProudAmericanMuslim (@MuslimMarine) November 19, 2015
While Rashab identifies as an actual Marine, Trump has not served in the military. In September, Trump told the author of an upcoming biography that his military school experience gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.”
Rashab’s tweet has since gained more than 21,600 likes and 16,000 shares. Twitter users have also responded with their own #MuslimIDS.
The results were consistently perfect.
Hey @realDonaldTrump, my #MuslimID via Princeton U. Yep I'm an affiliate volunteer at a most prestigious university. pic.twitter.com/wtxzhKL2gx— Arshe Ahmed (@arshe2020) November 20, 2015

Mr Trump: If it has to be a picture ID maybe I could use this as my #MuslimID? pic.twitter.com/YBPp3g8KL4— Zareena Grewal, PhD (@ZareenaGrewal) November 20, 2015
