Straight from the 'Merica factory where they still make 'Merican things -- the most 'Merican of things! -- comes this nugget: Donald Trump has Tom Brady in his corner for the 2016 presidential election.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, the New England Patriots quarterback further inflated Trump's campaign hopes.

One of Trump's signature "Make America great again" hats had been spotted in Brady's locker earlier this season. The quarterback was asked Wednesday if he thinks Trump can win the election.

"I hope so," Brady said. "That would be great. There'd be a putting green on the White House lawn. I know that."

Well, that's one way to choose a candidate.

When the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots made the customary White House visit for championship sports teams this past April, Brady declined the invite, citing a family engagement. During George W. Bush's presidency, the Patriots won three Super Bowls and made three such visits. Brady attended each one.

Unconfirmed reports say Las Vegas has set the over/under for how long it will take Trump to name-drop Brady in Wednesday night's debate at 2.5 seconds. He already tweeted this:

A great honor from somebody that knows how to win! https://t.co/syJH9OT0zX— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 16, 2015

Thank you to Tom Brady, Coach Ditka, Coach Bobby Knight and all of the many champions that have been so supportive!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 16, 2015
