Dopplr Funded for Travel Social Network

Dopplr, which is building a travel social network, is announcing early stage funding today. The undisclosed amount comes from Martin Varsavsky, Joi Ito, Reid Hoffman and The Accelerator Group (led by Saul Klein).

The idea is one that should appeal to high-flying geeks hopping between conferences and world businessmen: it lets you log your travels around the world and which country you'll be in at a certain time. If your friends are in the same city as you, you might want to meet up for a beer. A local friend, meanwhile, might spot that you're in town and offer some accommodation or a lunch meet.

Dopplr is currently invite only, but add yourself to our Dopplr Invites page to get access (you'll need to create an account at Mashable Invites first).
