UK-Based DotHomes Comes to America

Even though the housing market is softening in the U.S., there has still been a lot of development on the real estate end for the launching and improvement of web-based tools. DotHomes is based in the U.K., but is making the leap to open up shop in the U.S. today.

Having established itself in the U.K. and in South Africa, DotHomes is an aggregate search engine that crawls all the other websites out there with real estate listings in order to provide a centralized search tool for properties across the nation. DotHomes pulls the website URL, listing information, images and videos for each listing, which can be viewed on a computer or a mobile. If there's no video present for a listing, you can add one from your computer or your mobile as well.

Similar to a Google search, you can also see a map view for a home listing. Items can also be saved and shared without creating an account. Another Google-like feature that you may find to be a fun time-waster (if you're the HGTV-watching type) is the "I'm Feeling Wealthy" search option, which will automatically add the word "expensive" to your query and give you a list of the most expensive listings in the nation. As DotHomes' index "learns" the behavior of the sites it crawls, little manual intervention is needed for data-mining or adding new sites to be crawled. This is a central feature that DotHomes attributes to its successful growth and expansion.
