SYDNEY -- Australian Doctor Who fans rejoice... The TARDIS has touched down in the streets of Canberra.

Is the Doctor hiding somewhere in Australia? We can't be sure, but there is evidence to suggest something is going down.

A passerby noticed the time machine, known as the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension in Space), in the suburb of Red Hill on Wednesday, Fairfax Media reported.

Unfortunately for the sci-fi fans, the TARDIS that landed in the capital territory is just a graffiti-covered cement utility box, with no further information about how it appeared. An excited fan is the most logical conclusion.

The eighth season of the BBC hit aired on Aug. 24 with Peter Capaldi taking over the lead role as the Doctor. It premiered in Australia to mixed reviews.
