Sometimes it's the small things that make life tragic. At least that's the idea behind comedy Tumblr Droll Pranks for Rich Boys.

The Tumblr, created by Los Angeles-based comedian Dan Bulla, bills itself as "the wealthy young gentleman's guide to horseplay." Bulla's pranks range from petty to absurd, as he encourages readers to do everything from pilfering cufflinks to terrorizing ladybugs.

Yet, despite such a cheeky subject matter, Droll Pranks was inspired by a surprisingly serious topic: politics.

"During the last presidential campaign, there were stories about [Mitt] Romney's prestigious private schools that he went to." Bulla recently told Mashable. "But that led to other stories about pranks at this school that only super rich boys would pull. That's the jump-start of the whole idea, which quickly became this fantasy of even richer boys doing even crazier things."

That was in 2012. Since then, Droll Pranks has taken on a life of its own, garnering dedicated audiences on Tumblr and Twitter. It even recently won Chronicle Books' "Great Tumblr Book Search," a contest that turns Tumblr blogs into books.
